DroneEars - Drone Detector

DroneEars is an Android app that listens through your phone's microphone and identifies drones by their rotor and engine sound — FPV quads, Autel EVO and DJI Mini — for residents of the UAE and the Gulf.
It works offline, needs no account, and alerts only when it is certain.

WHAT YOU CAN DO WITH IT
• Pilots: fly your DJI, EVO or FPV quad and check how far away your own drone can still be heard — and whether anything else is flying near your spot.
• FPV groups: know that another quad is in the air at the field before you see it.
• At home: a buzz over the house at night — DroneEars names the drone type, or stays silent if it is not a drone.
• Outdoors: a farm, a desert camp or the beach — leave the phone on the table and it keeps listening while you work.
• Events and properties: know whether a drone is overhead at a wedding, a work site or a backyard gathering.

CAN A PHONE DETECT A DRONE?
Yes, within hearing range. Every drone has a rotor or engine sound signature. DroneEars listens through the phone's microphones and matches what it hears against drone sounds it has learned — all on the phone, no radar, no accessories.

WHICH DRONES DOES DRONEEARS HEAR?
FPV quadcopters, Autel EVO II and the DJI Mini family today, with new models added in updates. It names the model it hears and never shows a vague "something detected." It is built to stay silent for cars, generators, wind and voices.

DOES IT WORK OFFLINE?
Yes. Detection runs entirely on the phone. Internet is used only for app updates and, if you choose, for sharing a confirmed sighting.

HOW FAR CAN IT HEAR?
About as far as an attentive person could hear the same drone: small quadcopters from a few dozen meters, larger ones from farther away. Wind, traffic and the phone's microphone change the range. Beyond it, the app stays silent.

HOW RELIABLE IS AN ALERT?
A drone is shown only after high, sustained confidence. On supported phones a direction indicator points toward it. Otherwise the alarm stays silent.

IS MY AUDIO RECORDED?
No. Live microphone audio is processed on the phone and never stored on our servers. Optional sharing (your consent, off anytime) sends only a confirmed sighting's location and drone sound, with all speech removed on your phone first. Full policy: droneears.com/privacy

DO I NEED AN ACCOUNT?
No. No account, no name, no sign-up.

IS DRONEEARS A SAFETY DEVICE?
No. DroneEars is an awareness aid, not a safety device. It can miss drones, misidentify them or stay silent. It never replaces official civil defense alerts or your own judgment.
