DNS over HTTPS Firefox

DNS over HTTPS

Check web site IP is spoofed or not.

Features & Capabilities

The DNS over HTTPS Firefox add-on helps users verify the authenticity of a website's IP address by comparing data from the browser and DNS over HTTPS (DoH) servers. It extracts the website's Fully Qualified Domain Name (FQDN), domain name, and IP address during browsing, then obtains the corresponding IP, PTR, and CNAME records directly from a DoH server.

By contrasting these data points, the add-on detects potential IP spoofing or use of private IP addresses. It communicates results visually through icon color changes: green indicates normal status, yellow flags private IP usage, and red warns when the IP addresses differ with mismatched PTR/CNAME domain names. This real-time security check enhances browsing safety and transparency by preventing spoofing attacks.

Is DNS over HTTPS Safe?

Risk impact
Risk impact measures the level of extra permissions an extension has access to. A low risk impact extension cannot do much harms, whereas a high risk impact extension can do a lot of damage like stealing your password, bypassing your security settings, and accessing your personal data. High risk impact extensions are not necessarily malicious. However, if they do turn malicious, they can be very harmful.

DNS over HTTPS requires some sensitive permissions that could impact your browser and data security. Exercise caution before installing.

Our algorithms are not perfect, and are subject to change as we discover new ways to detect malicious extensions. We recommend that you always exercise caution when installing a Firefox add-on.
