Scan the barcode on a food package or enter it manually, and the app analyses the available product data for you.

The app works as a quick lactose check when grocery shopping, eating out, or finding yourself in a social situation where you’re unsure what you can tolerate.

It’s also easy to use for family and friends who want to be considerate but may not be used to choosing lactose-free products. This way, anyone can help make a more informed food choice.



CLEAR AND EASY-TO-UNDERSTAND RESULTS
Results are presented with clear visual indicators, so you can quickly see whether a product appears to contain lactose - even when others are using the app to help you.

If the information is incomplete or uncertain, this is clearly indicated so you can take it into account in your assessment.

Indicator guide:
• ✅ Green - The product appears to be lactose-free based on the available product information.

• ⚠️ Yellow (Warning) - The available product information does not make it clear if the product contains lactose or not.

• 🛑 Red - The product appears to contain lactose based on the available product information.

This gives you a quick and transparent basis for making a more confident choice.

If a scanned product cannot be found, the message “Product not found” is shown.
You then have the option to help add the product to the database.

This way, you’re not only helping yourself for next time - but also other users who encounter the same product. We appreciate your contribution.

PRIVACY AND DATA
Lactose Check does not collect personal data and respects your privacy.
The app requires no login and stores no user profiles.

The camera is primarily used for barcode scanning.
Images are not stored or shared when scanning barcodes.

If a product cannot be found in the database, you may voluntarily choose to add it to the app. In this case, you can upload:

• an image of the product front or barcode
• an image of the ingredient list

Uploaded images are used solely to review and verify product information and to add the product to the database.
Images are not used for any other purpose and are deleted once processing is complete.
