Applet2Object

Replaces all <applet> elements on a page with corresponding <object> elements, keeping all attributes and parameters intact.
What is Applet2Object?
'Applet2Object' is a simple yet effective Chrome plugin that replaces all <applet> elements on a webpage with corresponding <object> elements, maintaining all attributes and parameters. Originally designed to assist with older equipment in Norwegian banks, it's an effective workaround for Chrome's dislike of applet tags, and is especially useful for paying bills online using Google Chrome. Note: Issues may occur with Chrome 8, but it performs well in Chrome 9 beta v/9.0.597.19.

Extension summary

Simple plugin that replaces all <applet> elements on a page with corresponding <object> elements. All attributes are passed from the <applet> to the <object>. All <param>'s are passed on as well.

Rumor has it that Chrome doesn't like applet tags, altså it is deprecated according to web standards. This is an easy fix.

The extension only uses native JavaScript.

This extension is especially dedicated to Norwegian banks still using applet tags for loading java applets, making it impossible to use Google Chrome to pay your bills ;-)

Note: Seems to be broken in Chrome 8. Works in Chrome 9 beta v/9.0.597.19

work

(Translated from Norwegian)(Google Translate)(First review) It does not apply in all banks. Should work in any OS that Chrome is, but personally I use Ubuntu, and it works in most banks I have tested here. Mainly it was because I had problems with Sparebank 1 that I made this, but know that it has "cleaned up" problems in banks and other networks. DnB Nor seem to use the embed tag to push in Java applets. Can see if I get to something;-)
