User reviews

Users appreciate the add-on’s core functionality of disabling JavaScript on specific sites, finding it useful for testing and controlling scripts. However, multiple reports raise serious concerns about recent versions containing malware after the extension was sold or transferred. Lack of maintenance, inability to customize keyboard shortcuts, and limited domain management options are cited as drawbacks. Some users find the add-on ineffective or see no visible changes, leading to uninstalls. Caution is advised due to security and functional issues with newer versions.
Pros
  • Effectively disables JavaScript on specific sites as intended.
  • Simple and easy to use for testing and troubleshooting web pages.
  • Has a useful domain-specific JavaScript disabling feature.
  • Generally works well with Firefox ESR and recent versions when functional.
Cons
  • Recent versions (2.3.2 and above) are reported to contain malware and malicious code.
  • The add-on is no longer maintained by original authors and appears to have been sold or transferred to unknown parties.
  • Keyboard shortcuts cannot be customized, causing conflicts with other add-ons.
  • Some users report the extension does not visibly affect sites or fail to work as expected.
  • No clear separation of whitelist and blacklist; lacks domain management features such as sorting and subdomain inclusion options.

Works like a charm with Firefox ESR 128.9.0 [64-bit]. Thanks Yubabul.

I can't see a button. I tried deleting some buttons from my tool bar to free up space but I still can't see it. I also tried ALT Shift 1 but I did not notice anything happening. The extension is on and I restarted firefox. Seeing the reviews, I am removing it.

Extension safety

Risk impact
Risk impact measures the level of extra permissions an extension has access to. A low risk impact extension cannot do much harms, whereas a high risk impact extension can do a lot of damage like stealing your password, bypassing your security settings, and accessing your personal data. High risk impact extensions are not necessarily malicious. However, if they do turn malicious, they can be very harmful.

Disable JavaScript requires some sensitive permissions that could impact your browser and data security. Exercise caution before installing.
