Tally Counter: Tap & Click

Count by feel. Tally is a tally counter with one giant button and one big number. You tap, the count goes up, and your thumb feels a crisp click, so your eyes never leave the work.

Most counting apps ask you to aim at a small plus sign. Tally does not. The whole screen counts. Keep the phone in your pocket, keep your gloves on, and keep watching the laps, the rows, the crates, the birds, or the people coming through the door.

The click is the point. Every tap answers with a sound and a buzz, tuned to land together, and the count fires the moment your thumb touches down instead of when you lift it. That is what makes a manual counter feel like the metal hand counter clipped to a clipboard.

Count anything

At the door. A crowd counter has to survive a queue, so the number is enormous and the target is the whole screen.
• A head counter for the coach, the boat or the school trip home
• An event counter that holds one running total across a whole shift
• An attendance counter for a class, a rehearsal or a training day
• Two doors, two people, one crowd counter each, and the totals add up later

In the gym. A workout counter is no use if you have to look at it.
• Reps and sets, counted without breaking rhythm
• Laps in the pool, rounds on the bag, lengths on the track
• Swings and squats with chalked hands and gloves still on
• Your thumb knows the number, so your head can stay in the set

In your hands. What a hand counter does for a clipboard, Tally does for a phone.
• A row counter for knitting and crochet, so you watch the yarn and not the screen
• A stock counter for boxes, cases and pallets on a shelf
• Cars past the window, deer in the field, sheep through the gate
• Tasbeeh, dhikr, mala and rosary, at whatever pace you keep

On paper. Tally marks in a notebook are the oldest counting app there is, and the habit still works.
• The same five-bar rhythm, on a screen that will not smudge
• Scores at darts, cards, cornhole and the pub quiz
• Glasses of water, cigarettes skipped, pages read
• Tally marks add up in your pocket while your hands stay free

Door staff, stewards and teachers end up reaching for the same three things: a head counter for bodies through a gate, an event counter for the running total, and a tally app that will not lose the number when the phone locks in a pocket.

What you get
• Undo takes one off, so a double tap costs you nothing
• Silent mode drops the sound and the buzz for a library or a meeting
• Volume keys count too, so you can tally up without looking at the phone
• The screen stays awake through a long set instead of locking mid-count
• Five named counters on one screen, with an All view and a Focus view
• Themes from Minimal to Retro to Arcade, each with a click of its own
• Your own colors on the button, the numeral and the background
• Light, medium or heavy click, so you can feel it through gloves
• Start from any number when you are picking up a count already in progress
• A home screen widget, so the count is one tap from your wallpaper

Tally is a manual counter, and that is deliberate. The number moves when you move it. Nothing is guessed from a sensor and nothing is filled in for you, which is why a workout counter you control beats one that counts for you.

A counting app should not need a manual. There are no menus to learn, no setup to finish and nothing to sign up for. Open it, tap the screen, watch the number go up.

Nothing leaves your phone. No account, no cloud, no tracking. Your counts stay on your device and Tally collects nothing about how you use it.
