Rewind: Notification History

Rewind is your notification history. It quietly keeps a searchable record of everything that hits your shade, so a message you swiped away, an OTP you missed, or a photo that vanished is never actually gone.


WHAT REWIND DOES

• Full notification history on a clean, day-grouped timeline
• Search everything, filter by app, and keep starred and hidden views
• Choose how long to keep history, from 1 to 365 days, or unlimited
• Per-app retention: keep WhatsApp forever, clear Instagram daily
• Capture inline images from notifications that carry them, like WhatsApp photos and YouTube thumbnails. Long-press any captured image to save it to your gallery
• Automation rules for patterns like "star any OTP code" or "hide promo pushes", with time-bounded active hours so a rule only fires during work, weekends, or whenever you decide
• Snooze notifications back to the shade for later
• Daily and weekly digests delivered at the time you choose
• Morning recap of everything that arrived overnight
• Analytics: per-app drill-in, top channels, loudest hour, 3am offenders, daily counts, and an hourly heatmap
• Home-screen heatmap widget
• Export your history as CSV, JSON, or PDF through the system file picker

PERMISSIONS, IN PLAIN ENGLISH

Rewind asks for notification access, the system grant that lets a notification utility see what is on your shade. It also asks for permission to post its own notifications for the digest, recap, and snooze redeliveries.

Reading your starred contacts is opt-in: Rewind only requests this permission the first time you tap "Pick from starred contacts" inside the rule editor, and only to build a local match condition. The names never leave your device. If you skip the picker, the permission is never requested.

Rewind does not request location, microphone, camera, photos, files, calendar, SMS, or your call log.


PRIVACY AS THE FOUNDATION, NOT A FEATURE

Notification content is one of the most personal data streams on your phone. Banking, dating apps, work, family. Rewind is built so that data physically cannot leave your device through Rewind. No servers exist. No analytics SDKs are bundled. No advertising IDs are read. No background sync runs.

If that ever changes, it will require a new app build and a clear in-app notice. The published privacy policy at https://mus91.github.io/rewind-legal/ is the source of truth.
