Decoder MetarTaf

MetarTaf Decoder is a tool designed for pilots and aviation personnel, converting raw airport METAR and TAF reports into a clear, full description in your chosen language within seconds.

The app fetches up-to-date data directly from the Aviation Weather Center (NOAA's official source) and displays it in two views simultaneously: the original report text and its complete decoded version-eliminating the need for manual abbreviation decoding.

KEY FEATURES

Airport search by ICAO code, IATA code, or name - coverage includes approx. 17,500 airports worldwide, including smaller aeroclub airfields

Nearest airport found automatically via GPS - a single tap instead of entering a code

Visual runway compass with wind direction and speed - shows which threshold is most headwind-aligned, distinguishing between asphalt and grass surfaces

Visual cloud cover breakdown - a cloud layer chart (FEW/SCT/BKN/OVC/VV) aligned along a ceiling height axis

Local airport time displayed alongside UTC, the standard time format for all weather reports

For airports without their own weather station, the app automatically shows data from the nearest METAR-issuing airport, clearly indicating the distance

Clear warnings for outdated reports when no newer data is available nearby-preventing old information from being presented as current

Full METAR decode: wind, visibility (including CAVOK), weather phenomena, cloud coverage (CB/TCU, VV), temperature, dew point, and QNH pressure

Full TAF decode: validity periods and change groups (FM/TEMPO/BECMG/PROB), with a separate decode for each group

Color-coded flight category indicators - VFR, MVFR, IFR, LIFR - automatically calculated from visibility and cloud ceiling

Offline mode: recently fetched reports and runways are saved locally on your device, with a header icon always indicating your connection status
