Tiere-ABC

Please note: Tiere-ABC is available in German only. All words, spoken instructions and stories are in German – made for German-speaking and bilingual families.

From A for Affe (monkey) to Z for Zebra: with Tiere-ABC, children aged three and up discover through play what letters look like, how they sound and how sounds turn into words. The app speaks every task aloud, so no reading skills are needed.

EIGHT LEARNING GAMES
• Letter tracing (Buchstaben malen): trace letters with a finger. A green dot shows where to start, and a finger can demonstrate the letter. Over time the template fades – until the child writes the letter from memory.
• My name (Mein Name): write your own name letter by letter (for names without umlauts or special characters).
• Guessing (Erraten): which picture starts with this sound?
• Initial sound detective (Anlaut-Detektiv): which letter does the word start with?
• Where is the sound? (Wo ist der Laut?): at the beginning, in the middle or at the end of the word?
• What's the word? (Was ist das Wort?): the app says a word sound by sound – which picture is it?
• Spelling (Buchstabieren): build short words from letters.
• Upper & lower case (Groß & Klein): a memory game with capital and small letters.

STORIES AND STICKERS
Every game earns stars. Stars gradually unlock 20 short stories that the app reads aloud, highlighting each word as it is spoken. Every letter a child has mastered earns a sticker for the sticker album.

ADAPTS TO YOUR CHILD
Tiere-ABC remembers which letters a child still finds hard and brings them up more often. Letters can be spoken by their name ("Be") or as a sound ("b"), the way German primary schools teach them. Besides animals, there are the themes household and food.

FOR PARENTS
The parents' area is protected by a small math puzzle. There you can:
• add several children, each with their own progress
• follow progress: a leaderboard and an overview of which letters still need practice
• show or hide individual games
• limit daily playing time
• choose theme, pronunciation, voice and menu music

SAFE AND PRIVATE
• works completely offline, no internet connection needed
• no ads and no in-app purchases
• no permissions and no data collection – the app sends no data
• for phones and tablets, with landscape mode on tablets

Note: Tiere-ABC uses your device's text-to-speech engine and needs a German voice that works offline. If your device doesn't have one yet, you can install it in the Android settings under "Text-to-speech output".
