What is glycio?



glykio is a digital health application for patients with type II diabetes mellitus. The application guides you to make effective lifestyle changes that help normalize blood sugar levels. In drug-treated patients, lifestyle interventions can increase the effect of the hypoglycemic drugs.


The program includes interventions in the following areas:

• Individual change in diet with the help of carbohydrate reduction and choice from different nutritional concepts


• physical activity


• Weight reduction (if relevant)


• Additional focus areas that you can choose yourself: smoking, blood sugar, feelings and thoughts, interpersonal relationships, dealing with concomitant diseases
  


• Innovative blood sugar awareness training
  

How does glykio work?


On the way to long-term changes in your lifestyle, you will be accompanied by your digital blood sugar coach, which is powered by an intelligent algorithm. This was developed by scientists and experts for type II diabetes mellitus. You can easily record your progress directly in the app using a digital diary. Based on the diary data, a program tailored to your individual needs will be developed and continually adjusted so that you can improve your blood sugar levels and achieve your goals. Your digital coach will guide you step by step. glykio does not specify a rigid program, but always takes your individual needs into account when compiling the content.


You also have a choice when it comes to changing your diet: You can choose between a light, moderate and strong reduction in carbohydrates and you can choose between a mixed diet and a vegetarian diet. There is no need to weigh food, count carbohydrates or calories: you will have all the important information and tools at hand to be able to change your diet easily and without stress.


In addition to the basic content on disease knowledge, nutrition and exercise, you have the choice of setting personal goals in various focus areas, which you can link to challenges of your own choice. This makes it even easier for you to stay on the ball.



Guideline-compliant, evidence-based treatment approach


The lifestyle changes recommended in the program are based on official guidelines and recommendations from the German Diabetes Society (DDG). The lifestyle changes used in the app have been shown in studies to have a positive effect on long-term blood sugar levels and are scientifically proven.


How do I get access?


Access to the use of glykio is currently only possible within the framework of participation in a study to investigate the clinical effectiveness of glykio. If you are interested in participating in our study and suffer from type II diabetes mellitus, please send us an email to medical@mementor.de.

If desired, physical activities can be transmitted directly via Apple Health Kit.



Please note:

The program does not replace the medical evaluation of the individual patient and the adaptation of diagnostics and therapy to his/her specific situation. The application can be used both as an accompaniment to drug treatment and on its own as an intervention in diagnosed type II diabetes mellitus. In any case, a consultation with your doctor is necessary before the start of the program.
