Pie Launcher Android

Pie Launcher

Home screen launcher that uses a dynamic pie menu instead of tables of icons.

Features & Capabilities

Pie Launcher is an innovative open-source Chrome extension that replaces traditional app icon tables with a dynamic pie menu for your home screen. Simply tap and hold to open the pie menu, then swipe to launch your favorite apps effortlessly. Users can customize their pie menu with 4, 6, or 8 icons for optimal usability.

If you need an app you don't use frequently, just tap and type its name to quickly access it. The interface supports muscle memory, enabling you to launch apps without looking once accustomed. Long pressing an app enters the editor for personalized pie menu customization. Learn more or contribute at the project's GitHub repository.

User Reviews

Pie Launcher is praised for its ultra-minimal, clean UI, fast performance, and a wallpaper-friendly experience with unique gesture-based app launching. It’s seen as a practical, middle-ground minimalist option. Common criticisms focus on missing widgets, limited customization (no folders, editable home-screen apps), occasional lag/instability, and the absence of launcher settings. Overall, users like the lean design but want more widgets and customization to reach default-launcher parity.
Pros
  • Ultra-minimalist, clean UI that keeps the wallpaper visible and reduces distractions.
  • Very fast and lightweight performance with smooth responsiveness.
  • Great wallpaper viewing experience due to the minimal UI, making the home screen feel uncluttered.
  • Innovative gesture-based app launching (directional swipes) for quick access.
  • Practical, middle-ground approach to minimalism—offers a lean alternative without heavy customization.
Cons
  • Lack of widget support / inability to add widgets on the home screen.
  • Limited customization options (cannot edit home-screen apps and lacks folders or advanced app-drawer organization).
  • Laggy or unstable performance with occasional bugs or slowdowns.
  • No launcher settings or customizable controls (limited configuration options).

too basic

One of the lightest and most original launchers I've tried. Using directional swipes to launch apps is genius and very fast. However, the home screen feels slightly too bare. I would love to see something like an optional clock widget added to the UI to fill that empty space and improve the aesthetic. Highly recommended otherwise!
