Tankblick

Tankblick replaces the Excel spreadsheet for your heating oil tank.

Only two things need to be recorded: a measurement with the dipstick and a delivery with quantity and price. The app calculates everything else from this data—fill level in liters, daily consumption, annual costs, and the day the reserve is reached.

WHAT TANKBLICK DOES BETTER THAN A SPREAD

• Separate data for summer and winter. A single average figure is useless for heating oil: in January, significantly more oil is used than in July. Tankblick estimates both rates together from the entire data history and shows how well the estimate matches the data.

• The calculation runs through each delivery. Beginning level plus delivery minus ending level—this ensures the consumption history doesn't break up when refueling.

• The tank shape is taken into account. For a battery tank with a rounded bottom and lid, or for a horizontal cylinder, a centimeter at the bottom is worth less than in the middle. Anyone who calculates with a fixed value of "liters per centimeter" is way off the mark precisely where it counts: right before refueling.

• Honest display. If the last reading was weeks ago, the app displays "estimated" instead of "measured"—and it indicates when the data isn't yet sufficient for a forecast.

For all multi-container shapes, the number of containers can be adjusted. The app also uses actual delivery quantities to verify that the entered dimensions match the actual contents and suggests an adjustment if enough evidence is available.

• Notification if the level has increased without a recorded delivery—otherwise, a missed delivery will silently disappear from the invoice

YOUR DATA STAYS ON YOUR DEVICE

Tankblick does not have internet access. The app cannot technically send anything—no account, no login, no advertising, no analysis. Everything remains within the app on your phone. If you want a backup, you can export a CSV file yourself and save it wherever you like.
