The question on the water is always the same: Can I keep this one?

Rutenzeit is a catch log that anticipates your catch. Enter the species and length—and the app immediately tells you whether the fish is currently in its closed season, undersized, or has reached the daily limit. The relevant regulation is displayed right next to it.

THE VERIFICATION

• Green, yellow, or red, with clear text: "Undersized – minimum size 50 cm." Below this, it states which regulation and version the value comes from—with a link to the official text from the state.

• Closed seasons and minimum sizes for all 16 federal states, taken from the official regulations and cross-checked. Coastal and inland waters are listed separately where the states do so.

• Individual rules for each body of water. If the club has stricter rules than the state or if a daily limit is specified on the fishing permit, enter this for the specific body of water—this rule then takes precedence over the state rule.

• The result is saved with the catch. If the regulations change later, the old entry will still show the rule that was in effect at the time.

THE CATCH LOG

• Record your catch in seconds: body of water, species, length — the rest is optional. The app estimates the weight from the length if you don't weigh it and marks it as an estimate.

• Fishing days, including those without a catch. Most catch log regulations explicitly require this information.

• Catch photos: take them directly or add them from your gallery; tap to enlarge.

• Fishing permits with expiration dates. The app can send reminders 30 and 7 days in advance.

• All species in the selected federal state with their current status: open, closed season, or protected year-round—and for how long.

• A public domain historical fish chart for almost every species, which can be zoomed in on. This is an aid for identification, not a definitive answer.

ANNUAL REPORT

The annual catch statistics as a PDF for the club, plus catches and fishing days as a CSV file. The CSV files use semicolons and decimal commas and open in Excel without an import wizard.

ROT TIME PLUS

Four weeks after installation, everything is free—no payment information required and no automatic subscription.

After that, the catch log remains accessible: entries, edits, viewing, photos, waters, fishing days, permits, statistics, and the annual report as a PDF and CSV file. The species list with fish charts also remains free.

Rule checks and reference guides are included in Rod Time Plus, for €0.99 per month or €9.99 per year. This is the part that requires ongoing maintenance: 588 rules from 16 state regulations, which are re-uploaded and cross-checked with every amendment.

Old entries remain fully readable even without a subscription, including the original check results. You can cancel via your Google account.

WHAT THE APP DOESN'T CLAIM

Rod Time doesn't invent values. If no rule is listed for a species, this will be stated—instead of an arbitrary number. The information is provided without guarantee: The fishing laws and regulations of your state, as well as the rules of your club and the specific body of water, are authoritative. The data was carefully transferred from the official text but has not been approved by an expert body. If in doubt, check for yourself—the app will provide you with the source and a link.

EVERYTHING STAYS ON YOUR DEVICE

Your catches, photos, and fishing spots remain on your phone. Rutenzeit doesn't upload any of this data—no account, no registration, no advertising, no analysis. The only external connection is a query to Google Play to check if a subscription is active. If you want a backup, you can export a file yourself and save it wherever you like.
