The GeoWaermeWende app is part of an innovative funding project with the goal of "Geoportal-based monitoring of a geothermally fed cold district heating network as a contribution to the heat transition with active user involvement."

What is a cold district heating network?
A cold district heating network is a highly efficient and sustainable form of heat supply. Unlike conventional heating networks, it operates with low flow temperatures between 5 and 25°C. The heat is extracted from near-surface geothermal sources and transported to the buildings via an underground pipeline network. There, decentralized heat pumps raise the temperature to the required level for heating and hot water. This technology achieves particularly high levels of efficiency and significantly reduces CO2 emissions.

Main features of the app:
Augmented Reality (AR) visualization: The absolute highlight! Point your camera at the ground and make the invisible infrastructure visible. Experience how geothermal probes, pipes, and distribution stations run beneath the surface. The AR function allows you to explore the dimensions and positions of the systems realistically – as if you were looking through the ground.
Discover all relevant components of the cold district heating network. Each POI (point of interest) is provided with detailed information.
Comprehensive knowledge database: Learn everything about how cold district heating networks work, from the physical principles to the ecological benefits. Clearly presented texts, graphics, and diagrams make complex relationships tangible.
