Our track4science app collects high-quality mobility data and makes this information available to the scientific community. The app also provides you with personalized feedback on your mobility behavior. In detail, the app uses the following data sources:

- Sensor data from your smartphone as raw data. The app continuously records movement data such as location and timestamp, from which route data can then be derived (including start and end points, most likely means of transport and other attributes such as length, duration or points of interest).
- App usage data to analyze user behavior and improve the app.
- Classic surveys (voluntary participation via the app or via email) to obtain information about the reasons behind your mobility data.


We only use your data for research purposes, to analyze traffic patterns and the use of different routes and means of transport.

We also share anonymized data free of charge with trusted partners in the research community. Sharing research data avoids duplication of effort and accelerates scientific progress.

We attach great importance to the confidentiality, availability and integrity of your data. When collecting data, we only work with carefully selected partners. The exchange of information takes place in encrypted form. We continue to pursue a strategy of data minimization and economy and ensure that only authorized persons have access to your data.
