ArxSilex MapTools

ArxSilex MapTools is an outdoor map tool for Android: for GPS/GNSS, online and offline maps, tracking, navigation, bearings, POIs, areas, terrain, and geodata.

Maps & online/offline data

Custom HTTPS sources for XYZ, OSGeo-TMS, and compatible raster WMTS 1.0.0 services can be set up, tested, and used as base maps or overlays. WMTS GetCapabilities detects layers, styles, image formats, and tile matrix sets; preview and connection tests help with selection. Supported projected CRS are reprojected locally. GetFeatureInfo provides position-related information where the layer supports it.

Online/offline maps, layers, slots, and profiles remain separately manageable. Provider, license, and source information is stored at the source; required short attributions are shown on the map. Usage, costs, registration, and caching depend on the provider. Imported map styles are not part of the app.

GPS, tracking & navigation

Set markers, save POIs, plan routes, and record tracks. Routes can be followed, monitored, and started freely on circular routes. Tracking records distance, times, pauses, segments, statistics, and GPS accuracy. Available GNSS/RTK quality data can be included.

Bearings, cross bearings & terrain

Bearing and measurement tools support orientation and map work. Live/AR cross bearing calculates a target point from two bearings with distance and quality assessment. Search grids and area tools help with planning and documentation.

Import, export & backup

Import and export geodata for documentation, further processing, or sharing. GeoJSON and ArcGIS/Esri JSON are supported as vector/layer data. Known coordinate systems can be converted to WGS84; unsupported data is rejected cleanly.

Project files use .asmaps. QR codes can optionally be password-protected. .asmaps.bak backups support password protection and restore options. For online map services, links, labels, usernames, and license information are saved, but not passwords, API keys, or tokens.

Privacy, control & Pro

Projects, tracks, markers, offline maps, and backups remain local until you share data or use an online function. Credentials for online maps are stored encrypted. The app uses no own user account, no ads, and no analytics platform. Some features or higher project limits may require a one-time Pro unlock via Google Play.

The accuracy of GPS/GNSS, RTK, compass, maps, elevation, AR, and Remote ID data depends on the device, sensors, reception, surroundings, and data source. Features and formats may depend on the device, Android version, and permissions.
