Days Till – Countdown Timer & Event Reminders

Count down to birthdays, trips, deadlines and launches. Repeating events, progress bars, day-before reminders and a badge for what's due this week.

Caractéristiques et capacités

Days Till answers one question, at a glance, every time you open your browser: how long until the things you're actually waiting for?

A countdown you'll actually see

Countdown apps fail for a simple reason — they live somewhere you don't look. Days Till sits in your browser sidebar, where you already are all day, and puts the nearest event front and centre with a big number and a progress bar that fills as the date approaches. There's also an optional badge on the toolbar icon showing how many events are due this week, so you get the information without even opening it.

Add anything with a date

Trips and flights — with a time, so the final day counts down in hours and minutes • Birthdays and anniversaries — set to repeat yearly, so you set them once and never again • Deadlines and launches — work milestones, project delivery dates, exam dates • Bills and rent — set to repeat monthly • Personal milestones — a wedding, a due date, the end of a lease, a marathon • Things you're counting since — past events keep counting up in their own tab

Repeats that make sense

Yearly for birthdays, monthly for rent — set the repeat once and the countdown resets itself forever. This is the difference between a countdown app you use for one holiday and one that stays useful for years.

Details on every event

A colour to tell events apart at a glance • An optional time of day, which switches the final day to a precise hours-and-minutes countdown • Notes — flight number, gate, gift ideas, what you need to prepare • Quick presets when adding — tomorrow, in a week, in 30 days, in 100 days — for when you don't want to open a date picker

Organised automatically

Your events group themselves into Today, This week, This month, and then by month — so the list stays readable whether you have three events or thirty. Each one shows a tear-off calendar leaf with the date, the days remaining, and a progress bar showing how far through the wait you are.

Three tabs keep things separated: Upcoming, Past, and All. Past events aren't deleted — anniversaries and finished deadlines stay available, counting up.

Reminders, if you want them

Turn on notifications and you'll get a single alert the day before an event. That's it — no daily digest, no marketing, no re-engagement nudges. The toolbar badge handles everything else quietly.

Search and export

Search across event titles and notes to find something in a long list. Export everything as JSON for a backup, or to move it elsewhere.

Why a browser extension instead of a calendar

A calendar tells you what's happening today. It's genuinely bad at telling you "your trip is in 47 days" — you'd have to go find the date and do the arithmetic. Days Till is built for the specific feeling of anticipation (or dread) that a countdown captures and a calendar grid doesn't. It complements your calendar rather than replacing it.

Who this is for

• Anyone with a holiday or trip coming up • Students counting down to exams, term end, or graduation • Parents and partners who don't want to forget a birthday again • Project managers and freelancers tracking delivery dates and deadlines • People counting down to a wedding, due date, retirement or move • Anyone counting days sober, days since quitting smoking, or another personal milestone

Starts useful immediately

On first install you'll find two sample events already there, clearly labelled as samples, so you can see how everything works before adding your own. Delete them in one tap when you're ready.

Private by design

No account, no sign-in, no cloud, no analytics, no ads. Your events and notes live in your own browser's local storage and are never transmitted anywhere. There's no server involved. Uninstall the extension and the data goes with it, so export first if you want a copy.

Frequently asked questions

How is this different from my calendar? A calendar is built to answer "what's on today." Days Till is built to answer "how long until X" — a question calendars handle badly, because you have to find the date and work it out yourself. Use both: the calendar for scheduling, Days Till for anticipation.

Do repeating events reset automatically? Yes. Set a birthday to repeat yearly or rent to repeat monthly, and once the date passes the countdown rolls forward to the next occurrence on its own. You never have to touch it again.

Can I count up from a past date? Yes. Any event with a past date moves to the Past tab and counts up instead of down — useful for anniversaries, sobriety milestones, "days since I quit," or tracking how long a project has been running.

Will it notify me? Only if you turn notifications on, and only once — the day before an event. The toolbar badge showing this week's count is passive and needs no permission prompt.

What's the badge on the icon? The number of events due within the next seven days. It updates in the background, so you get a sense of what's coming without opening anything.

Can I back up my events? Yes, export everything as JSON at any time. Since data is stored locally, exporting before you switch browsers or reinstall is worth doing.

Why are there two events already there when I install it? Two clearly-labelled sample events so the app isn't an empty screen on first open and you can see how repeats and progress bars work. Delete them in one tap.

A days until calculator that keeps counting

Most people work out days until a date once — in a browser search box — and then forget the answer by tomorrow. This keeps the number live and in front of you: open the panel and every event countdown is current, with no arithmetic and no re-searching.

It works in both directions. Future dates count down; past dates count up, so "days since" milestones sit in their own tab alongside the ones you're waiting for.

More questions

Can I count down to a time, not just a date? Yes. Add a time and the final day switches to an hours-and-minutes countdown — useful for flights, ticket releases, deadlines and exam start times.

What's the difference between this and a calendar reminder? A calendar tells you when something is scheduled. A countdown tells you how far away it is, continuously, without you asking. They answer different questions and work well together.

Can I use it for a wedding or a due date? That's one of the most common uses. Add the date, pick a colour, and the progress bar fills as the day approaches. Repeats aren't needed for a one-off, so leave it set to Never.

Will it remind me? If you turn notifications on, you get one alert the day before. The toolbar badge also shows how many events fall in the next seven days, without needing any permission.

Can I export my events? Yes, everything exports as JSON at any time.

Days Till is a countdown timer, days-until calculator, event reminder, birthday countdown and deadline tracker in one small, free, private extension — for the dates you're actually counting.
