User Reviews

CRX Installer lets Firefox Nightly users install Chrome Web Store extensions, and even works on Android Nightly and forks like Floorp, acting as a replacement for the old Chrome Store Foxified. Reviews praise the core capability and ease of use, while noting it cannot fix regular Firefox’s restrictions. A major caveat is the need to set xpinstall.signatures.required to false, which raises security concerns and isn’t default. Some users also report Zen Browser compatibility issues and mixed reliability across environments. Overall, a useful workaround with clear caveats.
Pros
  • Enables installing Chrome Web Store extensions in Firefox Nightly (and some forks like Floorp) and on Android Nightly.
  • Works well in Firefox Nightly and Android Nightly, circumventing regular Firefox restrictions.
  • Functions as a replacement for the now-defunct Chrome Store Foxified, delivering familiar workflow.
  • Simple to use once installed, with a straightforward usage flow.
  • Cross-browser compatibility, including Floorp, per user reports.
Cons
  • Does not work in regular Firefox due to Mozilla restrictions.
  • Requires disabling xpinstall.signatures.required (xpinstall) to install non-repo add-ons; not enabled by default and carries security concerns.
  • Inconsistent compatibility on Zen Browser, with some users reporting it doesn't work there.
  • Reliability can vary across environments, with some installations failing or behaving differently.

High risk impact extensions are not necessarily malicious. However, if they do turn malicious, they can be very harmful.

CRX Installer requires some sensitive permissions that could impact your browser and data security. Exercise caution before installing.
