Cribble - AI Usage Tracker

Cribble does one thing: measure how long you spend on known AI tools in the browser, then sync that to your cribble.dev account for scores and a leaderboard.

It records only:

• the tool domain (e.g. claude.ai, chatgpt.com)
• active vs idle time
• visit counts

It never reads prompts, model replies, chat history, files, keystrokes, clipboard, or page content. The content script sends an activity signal (event type + duration). The background attributes that to the tab’s real host — sites cannot claim a fake domain.

You link the add-on once on https://cribble.dev/dashboard (GitHub or X sign-in). Usage queues on the device and syncs about every 30 seconds.

Permissions

• storage — device id, link state, and the local event queue
• scripting — inject the tracker when you enter a tracked AI page, including in-page (SPA) navigations
• alarms — scheduled sync and retry
• webNavigation — see history.pushState so path-scoped tools still start (x.com/i/grok, github.com/copilot)
• Host access for listed AI sites — only those usage surfaces. The script does not run on vendor marketing sites (openai.com, anthropic.com, …). Browsing anywhere else is not observed.
• Host access for cribble.dev — dashboard handshake and sync (https://cribble.dev/api/extension/sync)
