Internet WiFi Speed Tester

Speed Tester is a clean, modern internet speed test for Wi-Fi and mobile data. Tap GO and get accurate ping, download, and upload measurements in about 25 seconds.

WHY THIS APP

• Privacy-first design. No analytics, no tracking. The nearest test server is picked from your IP address — never from GPS.
• "Good for" ratings. Every result is scored out of 5 stars for Browsing, Gaming, Movies and Video calls, so you learn what your connection can actually handle — not just a number.
• Test history. Every result is saved automatically. Add personal notes to any test, share a result as a card image with a QR code, or export the whole history as CSV.
• Accurate. Multi-threaded measurement against well-known public speed-test endpoints with live byte counting — the same techniques used by professional speed-test clients.
• Fast to start. The server list is warmed up silently when you open the app, so tapping GO begins measurement immediately.
• Modern interface. Live speedometer, a clear phase indicator (ping → download → upload), and per-phase results that fill in as the test runs.
• Five languages. English, French, Spanish, Chinese and Russian.

HOW IT WORKS

Speed Tester opens HTTPS connections to public speed-test endpoints (speed.cloudflare.com, speed.hetzner.de) and measures byte transfer rate over a fixed time window. Your nearest server is selected automatically based on your IP location.

PERMISSIONS EXPLAINED

• INTERNET — to open test connections.
• ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE — to detect whether you are online before starting a test.
• ACCESS_WIFI_STATE and location — optional, and used for one thing only: showing the name of the Wi-Fi network a result was measured on. Android has hidden the Wi-Fi network name behind a location permission since Android 10. The app never asks for it until you tap "Show name", and it never requests, derives, or stores your location. Decline it and everything still works — results simply read "Wi-Fi".
