CookieScope Firefox

CookieScope

Monitor cookies in open tabs over a sidebar. Copy and save timestamped cookies in JSON files.

Features & Capabilities

A powerful tool for debugging cookie issues, analyzing traffic and privacy, or learning about HTTP cookies, with a focus on simplicity, security, and user control. Designed for web developers, security researchers, and privacy enthusiasts to monitor and extract cookies in real-time over a sidebar.

Features: • Two modes: • Multi-Tab Capture, • Active Tab Only.

• Copy Options: • Individual cookies for one tab or the entire capture from all tabs. • Cookie JSON only or full tab content (title, cookies, JSON). • Buttons, CTRL+A, right-click, or mouse drag.

• Save Options: • For a single tab (e.g., cookies_x_com_2025-09-01T03-47-00.json). • For the entire capture for all open tabs (e.g., all_cookies_2025-09-01T03-47-00.json).

• Cookie Capture: • Newest cookie at the top. • Updates on tab activation, cookie changes, or page loads.

• Pause/Resume: • Pause updates to prevent refreshes during analysis. • Resume with queued updates.

• Privacy Support: • Displays a message and “Open Privacy Settings” button if no cookies are found, linking to Mozilla’s Enhanced Tracking Protection guide.

• Performance: • Uses a 2000ms debounce for updates (except tab activation) to balance responsiveness and resource usage.

Security and Privacy: • Minimal Permissions. • No Data Collection: Processes cookies locally without storage or transmission. • Safe DOM. • No Third-Party Libraries: Pure JavaScript, HTML, and CSS. • Error Handling: Provides user-friendly alerts for clipboard or download failures. • Manifest v2: Complies with Mozilla’s add-on standards.

• Limitations: • Firefox’s Enhanced Tracking Protection may block cookies; disable over Settings or the provided link. • Unsupported URLs: an error message displayed. • Clipboard access may fail in rare cases; use Ctrl+C as a fallback. • Multi-Tab mode may increase memory usage with many tabs.

Is CookieScope Safe?

Risk impact
Risk impact measures the level of extra permissions an extension has access to. A low risk impact extension cannot do much harms, whereas a high risk impact extension can do a lot of damage like stealing your password, bypassing your security settings, and accessing your personal data. High risk impact extensions are not necessarily malicious. However, if they do turn malicious, they can be very harmful.

CookieScope requires some sensitive permissions that could impact your browser and data security. Exercise caution before installing.

Risk likelihood
Risk likelihood measures the probability that a Firefox add-on may turn malicious. This is determined by the publisher and the Firefox add-on reputation on Firefox Add-ons Store, the amount of time the Firefox add-on has been around, and other signals about the Firefox add-on. Our algorithms are not perfect, and are subject to change as we discover new ways to detect malicious extensions. We recommend that you always exercise caution when installing a Firefox add-on.

CookieScope may not be trust-worthy. Avoid installing if possible unless you really trust this publisher.
