Install the plugin, check the extension list and pin it to the toolbar. Then, simply click on the icon in the toolbar to edit. Click again to blur and click once more to disable edit/blur mode. Easy peasy!

it doesn't show up in my extension drawer at all, so I can't use it? it's installed and active, but I can't find it anywhere in my browser itself.

Is Content Edit & Blur Safe?
Risk impact
Risk impact measures the level of extra permissions an extension has access to. A low risk impact extension cannot do much harms, whereas a high risk impact extension can do a lot of damage like stealing your password, bypassing your security settings, and accessing your personal data. High risk impact extensions are not necessarily malicious. However, if they do turn malicious, they can be very harmful.
Content Edit & Blur does not require any sensitive permissions.
