ShelterSync

ShelterSync is the mobile app for animal-shelter volunteers, staff, and foster caregivers.

You need an account from a shelter that uses ShelterSync. Accounts are created by your shelter's coordinator — there's no sign-up in the app. If your shelter hasn't set you up yet, ask them before installing.

FIND THE ANIMAL IN FRONT OF YOU
Browse the animals available to you, or point your camera at the QR code on a kennel card to open that animal's record straight away.

LOG ACTIVITIES AS YOU DO THEM
Start a walk, play session, or socialization, and end it when you're done. A short follow-up question or two captures what you noticed while it's still fresh.

SEE WHAT AN ANIMAL NEEDS
Each animal shows its activity goals and how it's tracking, so you can spend your time where it counts rather than guessing.

FOSTER FROM HOME
If you foster, the animals placed with you appear in the app, and your time with them counts the same as time at the shelter. Log a session live, or record one afterwards when real life got in the way. If your shelter uses observation forms, you can share what you see at home — how they sleep, eat, and settle — straight into the animal's record.

ABOUT YOUR PRIVACY
The camera is used for one thing: reading the QR or barcode on a kennel card. Scanning happens on your device, and no image or video is ever stored or uploaded. Camera access is the only permission the app asks for.

There's no advertising, no third-party tracking, and no user-to-user messaging.
Your information is visible to the shelter you volunteer with, and not to other volunteers.

ShelterSync is made by Zoolytix for shelters and rescues. Minimum age 13; some shelters set a higher age of their own.
