AI Language Tutor for building conversational skills
Practice real conversations. Get real feedback.
Zoey is an AI-powered language practice app that helps you build confidence speaking a new language — not by memorizing flashcards or completing grammar drills, but by having actual conversations about situations you'll encounter in real life.
How it works
Choose the language you want to practice, then pick a scenario that matches where you are in your learning journey. Zoey's AI tutor jumps straight into the conversation — asking you questions, responding naturally, and keeping the exchange moving just like a real person would.
You respond however feels most natural to you. Type your reply if you prefer to think before you write, or tap the microphone and speak — Zoey listens, understands, and responds either way.
While you're talking, Zoey quietly tracks your grammar, vocabulary, and word choice. When you make a mistake, it gently points it out right there in the conversation — not in your target language, but in your native language, so the correction actually makes sense to you. Then the conversation continues. No interruptions, no lectures, just a smooth correction and back to practicing.
When you're ready to wrap up, tap End Session and Zoey grades your performance. You'll see your overall score, a summary of how the session went, and a breakdown of every mistake you made — what you said, what would have been better, and a plain-language explanation of why. All explained in your language.
Real-life scenarios
Zoey comes with eight practice scenarios covering the situations where language skills actually matter:
Visiting the doctor — describe symptoms, understand a diagnosis, ask about treatment
Job interview — answer common questions, talk about your experience, stay professional
Airport and travel — check in, navigate security, ask for help finding your gate
Hotel check-in — book a room, request amenities, handle issues at the front desk
Ordering at a restaurant — read the menu, ask about ingredients, make special requests
Shopping — ask about sizes and prices, find what you need, negotiate politely
Making small talk — introduce yourself, keep a casual conversation going, ask follow-up questions
Asking for directions — find your way around an unfamiliar city, understand the answer
More scenarios will be added over time based on what learners find most useful.
Supported languages
Zoey currently supports practice in:
English
Spanish (Español)
Pashto (پښتو)
Arabic (العربية)
More languages are coming. The app automatically detects your device's language to set your native language as the default, and you can change either language at any time from Settings.
How Zoey is different
Most language apps teach you language. Zoey makes you use it. There's a meaningful difference between knowing that "me duele la cabeza" is correct and actually being able to produce it in the middle of a conversation when someone is waiting for your answer.
Zoey puts you in that situation — safely, without embarrassment, with a patient AI partner who never gets frustrated and is always ready to go again.
Every session is self-contained. Try the doctor scenario on Monday, the job interview on Wednesday, repeat whichever ones felt hard. There's no fixed path, no points system pressuring you forward before you're ready, and no social comparison. Just you and the language.
Your first session is free
You can try your first scenario at no cost — no account required, no credit card, nothing to sign up for. If you want to keep going after that, a monthly subscription unlocks every scenario in every supported language, with new content added regularly.
Built with your privacy in mind
Zoey does not store your conversations. Audio recorded during voice responses is transcribed and immediately discarded — it is never saved to a database or used to train any model. Your language preferences and subscription status are stored locally on your device.
