In Arabic, stairs means going up, rising. It is the event of our Prophet (pbuh) ascending to the sky and being accepted into the presence of Allah. The Mirac event takes place on the twenty-seventh night of the month of Rajab, one year or seventeen months before the Hijra. The event has two stages. In the first stage, our Prophet (pbuh) is taken from Masjid al-Haram to Bayt al-Maqdis (Jerusalem). This stage mentioned in the Quran is called "Isra", which means night walk. The second stage is the ascension of our Prophet (pbuh) from Bayt al-Maqdis to Allah. This ascension event, known as Miraj, is not mentioned in the Quran, but is described in detail in many hadiths.
