User Reviews

Zerocam receives praise for its minimalist design, encouraging users to capture raw photos without distractions and having appealing image style and animations. However, many users criticize its subscription model, the absence of key camera features like zoom, focus, lens switching, and the limited number of photos allowed without subscribing. The app also faces optimization issues across devices and concerns about image quality. Though updates are gradually improving features, users overwhelmingly desire a one-time purchase model and richer camera capabilities for better value.
Pros
  • Simple and minimalistic design that encourages pure photography with no complex settings or filters.
  • Good image style with vibrant color production and clean pictures without excessive sharpening.
  • Nice startup animation and smooth user interface animations.
  • Ongoing updates gradually adding more features.
  • Encourages users to focus on capturing moments without distractions.
Cons
  • Subscription-based model criticized; many users prefer one-time payment instead of recurring charges.
  • Lack of essential camera features such as zoom, switching to selfie camera, tap to focus, lens selection, RAW photo capture, exposure control, and video recording.
  • Limited photo usage with only 5 photos per day without subscription.
  • Poor optimization for various Android models, missing support for multiple lenses and zoom levels.
  • Image quality concerns; photos are grainy, white balance issues, and processed despite claim of zero processing.

I like the project, the effort that the devs put on the quality of this app and I'm aware that monetizing your project while being an indie developer is important, but I can't even take a photo without the app ask me to signup for a free trial, IMHO it was not a very smooth onboarding. Also, why throwing me off the app to make an "in-app" review literally after the welcome tutorial, given that I could barely use it?

The new version doesn't work for me, the pre release one did. Edit: it now works, the issue was that it was trying to take me to a subscription screen and it wasn't loading for some reason. Rating stands for the subscription... I would understand a one time purchase, but a subscription??? Why? 🧐 It's supposed to not have features, it's supposed to not have any ai. WHY ARE YOU ASKING FOR A SUBSCRIPTION?
