Ya Nso' : The Nso Calendar

Ya Nso' — Yanso is a free, open-source calendar app that brings the traditional timekeeping of the Nso people of Cameroon to your phone.

The Nso calendar runs on an eight-day week — a cycle of Kaavi, Rəəveiy, Kiloovəy, Nsəəri, Geegee, ŋgoilum, Waiylun, and Ntaŋrin — that has shaped daily life in Nso land for generations. Yanso lets you see today's Nso date alongside its Gregorian equivalent, so you always know where you stand in the traditional cycle.

• Today's Nso date — instantly see the current day in the eight-day Nso week and the corresponding Lamnso month.

Yanso treats accuracy as a core principle. Every piece of cultural data carries a verification status, and the project publishes its research sources openly. The app will never present uncertain information as established fact.

Yanso is completely open source. The calendar engine, the cultural data, and the app itself are all available on GitHub for anyone to inspect, contribute to, or build on. If you have a cultural correction, a verified calendar date, or local knowledge to share, your contribution is welcome.
