Karagöz

Literally Blackeye in Turkish. He is the leader of the characters. Popularized during the Ottoman period. In Greece, Karagöz is known by his local name Karagiozis; In Bosnia-Herzegovina, he is known by his local name Karađoz or Karadjoz.
