Wren: Anonymous Letters

Some things are easier to say to a stranger.

Wren is a quiet place to write down the thing you can't say out loud — to family, to friends, sometimes especially to them — and send it, anonymously, into the dark. By the next morning, a real person somewhere has read your letter and written back.

No feed. No followers. No likes. No numbers, no one performing for an audience. Just a letter, and a reply.

HOW IT WORKS
• Write one letter a day, from a random handle. You're anonymous — no name, no email, no password needed to begin.
• It goes out overnight to a few strangers — you can't choose who, and neither can they.
• Letters arrive for you at the quarter-hour you pick, like the morning post.
• You're guaranteed to be heard — at least one reply comes back, from a real person, or a clearly-labeled gentle response if no one answers in time.
• Reply to letters that find you. Keep a thread going if you both want to. Or just read, and let it go.

WHAT PEOPLE WRITE ABOUT
Whatever's sitting heavy. The grief nobody wants to hear about again. The 3am worry. The thing you're proud of and can't say out loud without sounding like you're bragging. Feeling lonely in a house full of people.

A letter to a stranger is often the easiest one to write — nobody here knows you, nobody will bring it up at dinner, and there's nothing to keep up with afterwards. Some people use Wren to vent once and let it go. Some write most days, like a journal that answers back. Some find one person worth writing to and keep a pen-pal thread going for weeks. All of that is the app working as intended.

QUIET BY DESIGN
There's nothing to doomscroll and no one keeping score. Letters arrive in the morning like the post. Nothing pings, nothing updates — you can put the phone down.

You choose the hour letters reach you, keep quiet hours, pick what's worth a notification at all, and turn off heavy letters entirely if today isn't the day for them. Need to stop? Take a break — for a set time, or for as long as you like. Nothing is deleted while you're gone.

A CORNER THAT'S YOURS
Keep the replies that meant something. Write a letter to your future self, sealed until the date you choose. See everything Wren stores about you, in plain words, and save a full copy whenever you want. Delete your account and it's gone. All of that is free.

SAFE BY DESIGN
Every letter and reply is screened before it's delivered. If someone's in crisis, Wren immediately shows real, human-run helplines (like 988 in the US) — never AI, never behind a paywall or a wait. You can report someone, block them, set a letter aside, leave a thread, or pause everything — any time.

FREE TO BE HEARD, FOREVER
Writing, being heard, replying, deleting your words, taking a break, and every crisis resource are free — always. Membership is only ever for people who want to give more and carry a few small extras: a second letter each day, longer replies, more than one thread at a time, and a private look back at the light you gave. We will never charge someone for being in a hard place. No ads. No trackers. Your quiet moment is never sold.

Wren is peer support and a set of resources — a place to be heard by another human. It is not therapy, medical treatment, or a substitute for professional care. If you're in danger, please contact your local emergency number.

You must be 18 or older to use Wren.
