User Reviews

Users appreciate the app's easy-to-use approach, detailed tree descriptions, and useful images, making it valuable for tree enthusiasts as a portable guide. However, many highlight issues with identification accuracy, an incomplete species database, and GPS/map inaccuracies. Additional problems include app crashes during photo additions and confusing navigation or terminology. Overall, the app is seen as promising and helpful, especially for beginners, but it requires improvements in identification reliability, mapping accuracy, and expanded species data to be fully trusted and effective.
Pros
  • Easy to use and intuitive identification process that helps users learn about trees.
  • Detailed descriptions with good photos and fact information about British trees.
  • Helpful as a portable alternative to carrying tree identification books.
  • Good concept and layout for beginners interested in identifying local trees.
  • Useful mapping and location features that work well on some platforms (iPhone reported better GPS inaccuracy handling).
Cons
  • Identification can be inaccurate or misleading, with species missing or wrongly described (e.g. Bird Cherry vs. Cherry Blossom, leaf arrangements).
  • GPS and location mapping features are often inaccurate or difficult to use, sometimes placing users on roads rather than correct spots.
  • App crashes or malfunctions when adding photos, saving observations, or using the map feature.
  • Limited tree species database; many users request more comprehensive species coverage or ability to add trees.
  • Interface can be confusing for beginners with unclear terms and cumbersome navigation; answers sometimes lead to wrong species due to rigid question logic.
Recent reviews
I love this app! Just recently got into identifying trees, and this app helps so much with that. It breaks down the features of the tree parts in a top down approach, helping you to narrow down the species gradually, and helping you learn which features to look out for in the process. Would 100% recommend if anyone is remotely interested in knowing more about the trees around you.

Easy to use and accurate if you get the tree description right. Good info about the trees including photos, facts. 4/5 since for me on Android 13, feature to take picture when logging a tree doesn't work - appears to take pic but then it never appears. Workaround is to take it directly using camera app, then tree app can find it in gallery of your photos.
