Tile by life360 mate app Guide

Just set up your tile by life360 Mate and not sure whether to use the Tile app or the Life360 app, which features require a subscription, or how the SOS alert actually works?
This guide covers every feature and the app ecosystem clearly so you get the most out of your tracker from day one.

WHAT'S INSIDE

> Finding Lost Items Guide
How the Tile network works in practice the Mate uses Bluetooth to update its last known location whenever it passes within range of another Tile or Life360 app user. This section covers how to read the location map correctly (last known position, not real - time GPS), how to trigger the ring from the app, how to use the Lost and Found QR code on 2024 Tile models (a good Samaritan can scan it and send you their location without needing the app), and how to mark an item as lost to activate community network assistance.

> Tile Network Explained
How the Tile finding network operates -- what happens when your lost item is detected by another device, how network density affects location update frequency, and how the Life360 app integration expanded the network to over 83 million monthly active users. Also covers the difference between Bluetooth range for ringing (up to 250 feet for Tile Mate) vs network-based location updates.

> Troubleshooting Guide
Step-by-step fixes for the most common Tile Mate issues Tile not found during setup, location not updating on the map, ring not working when triggered from the app, Smart Alerts not firing when leaving items behind, SOS not sending, and confusion about Tile.com redirecting to Life360.com (this is expected Tile.com now redirects to Life360 as part of full app integration).

> User Manual
A structured reference covering: first-time pairing via the Tile app or Life360 app, adding the Tile to a Life360 Circle, enabling Smart Alerts, configuring SOS emergency contacts, checking battery status (Tile Mate uses a non-replaceable battery the app shows remaining battery percentage), and how to transfer a Tile to a new owner or device.

> Tips and Tricks
Practical tips for getting more out of your Tile Mate using the reverse-find feature (press the Tile button to ring your phone even when it is on silent), how Smart Alerts work with geofencing, attaching the Mate to items where it works best given its compact size, and how to use the QR code feature proactively by registering contact info before losing an item.
