What does sustainable streaming mean?

For us, sustainable means being considerate of future generations when it comes to consuming raw materials and other resources on earth. On watchbetter you can make a small contribution to the reforestation of our planet by streaming your favorite videos. We use part of the income from the commercials seen to plant trees where they are urgently needed.

Step 1: Sustainable reforestation. We plant a mangrove tree for every 2,000 minutes of video viewed through our NGO partner Eden Reforestation Projects.

Mangroves are superheroes among trees and can store three to five times more carbon than tropical rainforests and other trees. They are not only climate savers, but also effectively protect coasts from storms and floods with their complex root system and contribute to the preservation of biodiversity.

With support from the Eden Reforestation Project, our mangrove forests are being planted around the world, and thanks to Eden's close collaboration with local people, new income opportunities are being created for many families while habitat is expanded and strengthened.

Step 2: Climate neutral streaming. With the help of ClimatePartner, we have determined the emissions caused per second of video streaming, recorded them in our CO2 counter and compensate every second of video streaming with officially verified climate protection projects. The projects are based on the 17 goals for sustainable development of the United Nations - their additional social benefit is particularly important to us and ClimatePartner.
