WakeMeThere: GPS Alarm

You get on the bus exhausted, you want to sleep for a while, but you can't: if you doze off, you miss your stop.

WakeMeThere is an alarm that goes off at a place, not at a time. Drop your destination on the map, choose how far ahead you want the warning, and that's it. You can sleep, read or watch a series without checking the window every two minutes.

HOW IT WORKS
1. Search for your destination by address, or just tap it on the map
2. Choose the alert radius (500 metres before, for example)
3. Arm the alarm and put your phone away

The app keeps measuring the distance even with the screen off. When you enter the radius, the alarm sounds and the phone vibrates.

WORKS WITH THE SCREEN OFF
A background service keeps tracking the distance while the phone is locked and in your pocket. You'll see a notification while the alarm is armed: Android requires it, and it lets you check how far is left.

Coordinates are used only to compute the distance to your destination and are discarded immediately. We store no trip history, we run no servers, we sell no data. Nobody knows where you are, not even us.

BACKGROUND LOCATION PERMISSION
The app needs background location access because its only purpose is to alert you while you travel, with the app closed and the screen off. Without that permission the alarm cannot fire.
