Nightingale Message

Nightingale Message is a purpose-built SMS and MMS messaging application designed for healthcare staff working with the Nightingale NurseCall system. It combines the simplicity of a modern messaging client with deep integration into nurse call workflows, ensuring your care team never misses a critical alert.

1. NURSECALL ALERT INTEGRATION
Nightingale Message automatically recognises incoming nurse call alert messages and displays them as rich, structured alert cards: showing the alert type, room or source, patient name, and how long ago the alert was triggered. When Nightingale NurseCall is installed alongside, alerts are instantly forwarded and the relay status is shown in real time. Staff can cancel active alerts or open them directly in NurseCall with a single tap.

2. MODERN MESSAGING
Send and receive SMS and MMS messages with a clean, familiar interface. Compose text messages, attach photos, or record and send audio voice messages directly from the conversation screen. Messages are organised into conversations by contact, with full support for group threads.

3. AUDIO MESSAGES
Record voice messages and send them as MMS attachments. Received audio messages play inline within the conversation with a progress bar and duration indicator; no need to open a separate media player.

4. IMAGE SUPPORT
Send and receive MMS photo messages. Tap any received image to view it full screen. Images are displayed inline in the conversation thread for a seamless experience.

5. CONTACT INTEGRATION
Conversations automatically display contact names and avatars from your device's address book. Unknown numbers are shown with their full phone number so you always know who you're talking to.

6. RELIABLE MESSAGE DELIVERY
Every outgoing message shows its delivery status: sending, sent, delivered, or failed. Failed messages can be retried or deleted with a single long press, without navigating away from the conversation.

7. SYSTEM ALERT THREAD
All nurse call alert messages are separated into a dedicated System Thread, keeping your regular SMS conversations clean and uncluttered. The system thread shows the source system, latest alert type, and today's alert count at a glance from the conversations list.

8. DESIGNED FOR MANAGED DEVICES
Nightingale Message is built for deployment on MDM-managed Android devices in care facilities. It integrates securely with Nightingale NurseCall using Android's signature-level permission system, ensuring only authorised companion apps can communicate with it.
