Lumi — AAC Communication

Lumi is an Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) app for people of all ages who communicate through symbols — children with speech delays, adults with autism, aphasia after a stroke, cerebral palsy, ALS, and other conditions. The person taps picture buttons and the device speaks out loud, helping them express needs, feelings, and ideas.

HOW IT WORKS

• Each button speaks a phrase out loud or opens a new set of options.
• Browse boards organized by topic (food, feelings, play…).
• PODD book mode: organized by intent (I want, I feel, I need…), one prompt per screen.
• Build sentences by combining multiple buttons before speaking.

• Selection by movement: on 2-option screens (Yes/No), the person rests both hands and chooses by moving one — great for limited motor control.
