The MDT app for Mordaunt Group Sparrow's Ventus system.
Ventus MDT is the mobile data terminal for ambulance and emergency response crews. It connects your vehicle tablet or handset to your organisation’s Ventus Response dispatch on Sparrow ERP — so you receive jobs, update status, view the map, and stay in touch with control from one app.
WHO IT’S FOR
• Frontline crews signed on to a callsign (vehicle/unit)
• Dispatch-linked operations using Ventus Response
• Tablets and phones in cab, plus Belfone SCP810 and SCP860 radio devices
SIGN ON & CREW
Sign in with your Sparrow credentials, link the app to your organisation’s Ventus deployment, and sign on to your callsign with division, shift times, and crew. Join an existing signed-on unit or start a new one. Schedule shifts can pre-fill shift windows where your organisation uses them.
JOBS & STATUS
When dispatch assigns you a job, the MDT alerts you with a siren and chime, claims the incident, and acknowledges Received. Move through your job status ladder step by step — for example Mobile, On Scene, At Hospital, and Clear — with one-tap buttons matched to your division’s configured workflow. Off duty, update unit statuses such as On Standby, On Station, Meal Break, and Out of Service. Status progress is shown clearly on screen; custom division ladders are supported.
CAD COMMS & MESSAGES
Read and send incident comms on the active job. A separate message inbox covers dispatcher traffic, system alerts, standby instructions, and shift notices — scoped to your current sign-on. Messages and critical actions queue when signal is poor and send when you reconnect.
MAP & NAVIGATION
See your position, the incident, standby locations, and transport destinations on an in-app map. Plan routes with Nav To — search by address or postcode, pick a point on the map, or jump to quick targets. Optional in-app turn guidance and follow mode keep the map centred on your vehicle. On standard phones, you can open external maps where available.
HOSPITALS & DESTINATIONS
Choose a receiving hospital from your organisation’s list or search nearby facilities. For recovery and specialist workflows, set a transport destination when your division uses that flow.
VOICE (PoC)
Where your organisation and division allow it, hold-to-talk on your division push-to-talk channel. On supported Belfone hardware, the physical PTT key controls the same floor — release to stop transmitting.
GRADE 1 PANIC
Hold the panic control for two seconds to send a Grade 1 panic to dispatch with your location. While safe to do so, microphone uplink lets control listen in; tap again to stop. Panic queues offline if needed and avoids duplicate sends until delivered. On Belfone SCP810 and SCP860, the dedicated SOS key uses the same hold-to-send behaviour.
DISPLAY, SOUND & LAYOUT
Adjust theme (including night mode), volume, and mute. Job siren and optional spoken job readout respect your sound settings. Choose phone, tablet, or compact radio layout. Keep the screen awake during navigation or while the app is open.
CREW, SHIFTS & HISTORY
Manage crew on the unit, view shift and meal-break indicators, and browse past responses with timing breakdowns. Report major incidents using structured templates such as METHANE where configured.
FLEET TRACKING (OPTIONAL)
When enabled by your organisation, the device can report GPS while signed off for fleet visibility — with adaptive, economy, or always-on data modes. Requires one successful crew sign-in to establish device trust.
