User Reviews

Users praise the app for eclipse/solar/lunar shots and improved images versus an unaided phone, but many report major issues: frequent crashes, Android camera/black‑screen problems, failed deep‑sky stacking and star alignment, stabilization preventing photos, and missing/unfinished features making the app feel like an Android beta.
Pros
  • Produces good results for solar/eclipse and lunar imaging for many users.
  • Can improve astrophotography compared with using the phone alone when properly focused and set up.
  • Useful for observing bright targets (Sun, Moon, bright stars) and can serve as a handy finder/phone mount for some setups.
Cons
  • Frequent crashes, freezes and app lockups reported by many users.
  • Camera access problems on Android (black screen, won’t use camera even with permissions).
  • Deep‑sky stacking and star‑tracking/stack alignment often fails or creates duplicate stars and doesn’t save stacks.
  • App often refuses to take photos — hangs waiting for “stabilization” or stops time‑lapse after one frame.
  • Key advertised features missing or unreliable (compass/location, catalogue/observe workflow); Android app appears behind iPhone and is still effectively in beta.
Recent reviews
The direction setting no longer works. Cannot detect stars anymore. Still crashes during deep sky stacking. Hangs up, you hit stop it hangs up again. Doesn't save any of the stack, not even one single which I would at least be somewhat happy with. Has been an ongoing issue with no resolution. Very disappointed, can't use product for outreach.Cannot recommend Pixel 7a sent in a report but there's no way to choose Hestia or Gravity in drop down

Google Pixel 4a 5g mobile, Android 14, Deek sky imaging is not stacking images with star alignment, creating duplicate stars each time it stacks. Update: Plate solving works in the latest update, but stacking still behaves as before
