UpTakes Sports Video Camera Android

UpTakes Sports Video Camera

Raise to record. Keep or delete each clip. Your highlight reel, as you film.

Overview

Features & Capabilities

UpTakes is a sports video camera app with gesture-powered instant editing: raise to record, lower to stop, and keep or delete each clip instantly with another quick gesture — so there's no editing afterward and no sorting through hours of footage.

Every action in UpTakes is a gesture, so your eyes never leave the action. A patented raise-to-record gesture (US Patent 11,082,609 B2) starts filming (lift to record, lower to stop), and after each clip a quick gesture keeps or deletes it on the spot. In auto-delete mode the outtakes clear themselves — the keepers ARE your reel.

How UpTakes works:
• Raise to record — point your phone's camera at the action and recording starts automatically.
• Lower to stop — point your phone's camera at the ground and recording stops automatically.
• Keep or delete — after every clip a quick review appears. Keep the take or delete it with a swipe (or a shake). The keepers ARE your highlight reel.
• Two modes: Auto-Save (the default) keeps every take unless you delete it. Auto-Delete clears every take unless you keep it — un-kept takes never reach your photo library, so you record freely without storage anxiety.
• Deleted the wrong clip? One tap brings it back.
• Reel Builder — pick your keeper clips and UpTakes combines them into one shareable highlight reel, saved to your camera roll.
• Timed Take — records fixed-length clips that auto-stop at a preset (about 1.5–3 seconds) and re-arm for the next take — a montage-ready burst with no trimming.

Capture quality:
• Records in 4K or HD (1080p) at 24, 30, or 60 fps — 60 fps gives you smooth slow-mo for fast action.
• Built-in video stabilization smooths out handheld, from-the-stands shake.
• Pinch to zoom, or tap a preset and it glides there with smooth, cinematic speed control — a push-in, not a jarring jump.
• Auto-trim shaves the phone-lowering motion off the end of every clip.
• Records in both portrait (for TikTok, Shorts, Reels) and landscape.
• Videos save straight to your phone's gallery — nothing uploads to a server, ever.

Built for fast, unpredictable action: youth sports — soccer, basketball, baseball, football, softball, volleyball, hockey, track — plus pro games as a fan and action sports. Built for sports, UpTakes works for any live moment worth keeping: concerts and recitals, weddings, hunting and birdwatching, kids and pets.

Frequently asked questions

Q: How is UpTakes different from my phone's camera?
A: With your phone's camera you record everything, then comb through hours of footage to find the good plays. UpTakes fixes that — you keep or delete each clip right after you shoot it, so the only clips left are the highlights. And it records from a gesture, not a button: raise your phone toward the action and your eyes never leave it.

Q: What if I forget to hit record — or think I'm recording when I'm not?
A: There's no record button to forget. Lift your phone toward the action and it starts recording automatically, then stops when you lower it — a quick buzz tells you you're rolling without looking down.

Q: Do I have to edit the highlights afterward?
A: No. You build the reel as you film — keep or delete each clip on the spot — so there's no post-game editing. Your highlights are ready to share before the game's even over.

Q: Is UpTakes free?
A: Yes — UpTakes Lite is free forever: the patented raise-to-record gesture, keep-or-delete review, manual record, flash, and zoom, recording in portrait HD at 24 fps. Go All-Access to unlock 4K, 60 fps, landscape, Timed Take, Reel Builder, custom gesture tuning, and zoom-speed control.

Q: Where are my videos saved?
A: Your videos save straight to your phone's gallery. There's no cloud, and UpTakes never holds your footage on a server — your family's videos stay private and in your control.

UpTakes Sports Video Camera is made by Uptakes Video LLC, founded by Joseph Garff — a sports dad who built it to solve his own sideline filming problem. US Patent 11,082,609 B2.
