User Reviews

Users find the STEP Bible Android app helpful for quick word studies, especially with Greek and Hebrew meanings highlighted directly within Scripture. It includes features such as verse cross references, footnotes, and Strong's numbers primarily for the ESV translation. However, many users complain about the limited number of Bible versions and missing ancient texts compared to the PC/website version. Technical issues such as slow loading and broken links, along with a confusing app name and lack of commentaries, were common concerns reducing its overall usefulness.

Pros

Highlights and underlines words to allow quick lookup without leaving the app
Excellent for studying the original Greek and Hebrew words and meanings behind Scripture
Includes useful features like verse cross references, footnotes, and Strong's numbers especially for the ESV translation
Easy to use and helpful for Bible teachers and those wanting deeper word studies
The app works well for quick reference and aids in better understanding of Scripture verses

Cons

Limited to only a few translations (mostly ESV, Spanish, and Korean), lacking multiple Bible versions available on the PC/website version
Does not include the full range of ancient texts or original language interlinear views available on the website or desktop version
Links and word study features sometimes stop working or are slow to load chapters, reducing usefulness
App is confusingly named and easily mistaken for the more feature-rich PC STEP Bible software leading to user disappointment
Lacks Bible commentaries and more comprehensive study resources seen in other free Bible apps

Recent reviews

The app does not allow for one to change translations. It's the ESV or some other language. That's misleading on the possible meanings of the words.

It's hard to give a rating on such an app -- it does exactly what it says it does and does it well, but having the same exact name as a suite of Bible tools with many, many more functions (which is only available on PC) is confusing. This app isn't useful to me as-is, because I was looking for the STEP Bible as I know it from PC. Changing the name to STEP Bible Lite or something would limit confusion and alert prospective users to look into it more before downloading.
