"Karadrà": project linked to the new concept of multifunctionality that gives agriculture, in addition to its primary task of production, the task of creating community, protecting the cultural and natural heritage of a territory, redesigning its lines. This land made of "dry stone walls" and "dry channels", of "olive trees" and "lonely almond trees" has pushed us not to agriculture, but to dry farming.
Agriculture today has to deal not only with the increase in consumption, but also with the decrease in resources, the increase in the earth's temperature and the consequent desertification, the productions must necessarily satisfy all these needs in order not only to be " ethical "but also sufficient.
Dry farming is the set of measures aimed at allowing cultivation in an arid environment, that is, in the absence of irrigation and in the presence of minimal rainfall. This allows us to bring to the market natural products grown in respect of the land and the water resource at competitive costs, making us discover, moreover, that evolution in itself has given many plants the ability to produce fruits with a high nutritional content and long storage. Hence our commitment to the recovery of local biodiversity. We have been at work for some time. For four years we have been involved in the area with cultural and social promotion activities and for two we have decided to commit our Tempo Lavoro also in the fields, reinvesting the proceeds from time to time, in support of agricultural expenses and our training. The system that we have triggered provides for the concession of use of uncultivated and abandoned land, their reclamation and production.We are committed to the reclamation and restoration of the Vecchio Fondo Cafazza, agro di Cutrofiano, in a reconstruction not only agricultural but also history of the territory in question, seeking the involvement of the community and other associative and institutional projects that have as their objective the vitality of the rural system and the quality of life in the territory. A mapping of the territory surrounding the area of ​​agricultural interest was started, opening a digital and paper archive for the census of the natural and architectural heritage persisting in the area. The reasons that led us to consciously choose the Cafazza Fund are linked to the geomorphological characteristics that have decreed its anthropization and development. from the Asso canal system, the only natural water system in the whole region, Zona Um ida to be protected. We are working on the creation of “Karadrà - Agricultural Cooperative Production Work”, which will give us and our territory the possibility NOT to resist, but to prosper. The biggest challenge for us is to demonstrate and demonstrate to ourselves that it is work that pays and creates new ones, without forgetting that food is for the body, as art is for the soul. "
