User Reviews

OpenRecovery: Addiction Help is widely praised for its effective AI support named Kai, comprehensive recovery materials, and ease of use, helping users work through addiction and spiritual growth. Users value the app's availability for managing cravings and step work anytime without attending meetings. However, multiple reviews note issues with the app freezing after free trial expiration, pushing paid subscription, and limited options for non-AA recovery programs. Despite minor feature requests, it remains a highly recommended and life-changing tool for addiction recovery.
Pros
  • AI companion 'Kai' provides therapeutic, non-judgmental support and effective guidance through recovery and step work.
  • Comprehensive recovery resources including readings, prayers, videos, and literature from multiple programs, easily accessible within the app.
  • Convenient tool for working recovery steps and managing cravings at any time, supporting sobriety and spiritual growth.
  • User-friendly and well-designed interface making recovery tools easy to use and navigate.
  • Helps users gain self-awareness, reflect deeply, and maintain accountability throughout the recovery journey.
Cons
  • Free trial limitations cause app freezing and force payment or account deletion without proper warning.
  • Some users report limited customization of step work options, with default affiliation to AA only, lacking alternatives like NA.
  • Occasional desire for additional features such as a free write journal or mood tracker is expressed.
Recent reviews
It would be helpful to export my chat even if I don't pay. Once the free trial ends the app freezes without proper warning. The only options are to pay or delete the account

It's so close to being really great, but unfortunately I am selecting NA for the step work and readings and it's only giving me AA. Willing to come back and pay if this could be fixed
