iChill

iChill can help you manage stress by teaching you self help skills.

Features & Capabilities

iChill is a powerful Chrome extension designed to help you manage stress and promote wellness by teaching six essential skills based on the Trauma Resiliency Model (TRM)® and Community Resiliency Model (CRM)®. It works with the biology of the human nervous system to help you recognize and regulate your body's natural rhythms, guiding you back to your "Okay Zone"—a balanced state of calm and resilience.

Ideal for users of all ages, iChill offers tools to reduce anxiety and depression symptoms, improve your ability to handle life’s challenges, and support your overall mental well-being. While it supports stress management and emotional regulation, it is not a substitute for professional mental health counseling. Developed by the Trauma Resource Institute, iChill empowers you to lean into your strengths and manage distress effectively in the moment.

User Reviews

While iChill is praised for its helpful, simple CRM-based skills useful for anxiety relief and self-regulation, many users report critical technical issues such as app crashes on opening, particularly on Pixel devices, and intrusive audio playback that begins automatically without proper controls. Screen timeout interruptions and outdated content further hinder usability. Users express frustration with slow bug fixes and support but still find value in the app's therapeutic approach and reminders for skill practice.
Pros
  • The app provides useful and simple-to-understand skills based on the Community Resiliency Model (CRM).
  • It is effective for anxiety relief and somatic work with clear instructions.
  • Users appreciate the app as a resource for self-regulation and resilience building.
  • Recommended by some users and professionals as a helpful therapeutic tool.
  • Users find the app helpful for daily reminders and managing panic attacks.
Cons
  • The app frequently fails to open or crashes on Android devices, especially Pixel 5, due to unresolved bugs.
  • Audio playback issues: automatic playing without option to disable, lack of control to stop or pause audio when switching sections, causing multiple audios to play simultaneously.
  • Screen timeout causes app to close during guided audio exercises, interrupting use.
  • Lack of updated content and settings to customize audio playback and user experience.
  • Poor support and slow bug fixes, with users unable to get help or updates for a long time.

I really like all the skills, however since the update to this newest version the screen times out and closes down in the middle of the guided audios. It didn't used to do this. Wondering if this could be corrected on the next update because it's hard to complete the exercises while also making sure the screen doesn't sleep and close the activity.

This seems incredibly useful! However, the auto-playing of audio (with no option to disable, only a mute button after play starts) makes this a non-starter for me for both privacy and overstimulation reasons. Please be aware that the app WILL automatically start narrating the text of whatever section you click on.
