MathShorts - Maths on Video

By: Gordon Ahn App
Snap a maths problem or type a formula, and get a short video of the solution.

Overview

Features & Capabilities

Photograph a maths problem or type a formula, and MathShorts solves it step by step and turns the working into a short vertical video. From algebra - equations and factoring - through functions and graphs to geometry and statistics, you see the working, not just the answer.

■ Photograph it, pick it, or type it
Point the camera at a textbook or worksheet to scan the problem, and the app reads the expression. You see what it read and can correct it before anything else happens, so a misread never carries on quietly. You can also choose a saved photo or type the expression yourself.

■ Step-by-step solutions
The working is split into numbered steps with the answer called out separately. When you turn it into a video you choose one of three themes - Notebook, Night, Mint - and one of two entrance motions.

■ Formulas that move
Type a formula and the app animates the curve it describes as it is drawn. Quadratics and cubics, reciprocals, sine, cosine and tangent, exponentials and logarithms, square roots and absolute values, the logistic curve, the normal distribution from statistics and compound growth are all supported. Parametric curves are drawn too: the unit circle, ellipses, Lissajous figures, Archimedean and logarithmic spirals, cardioids and rose curves.

Calculus on powers - derivatives and integrals - the Pythagorean theorem of geometry, trigonometric identities, Euler's formula and identity, the binomial square, geometric series, and vector addition and dot products each get a diagram built to show what they mean.

■ Spheres and helices in 3D
Type x²+y²+z²=r² and a spherical spiral winds a sphere into view. The near side is brighter, the far side darker, and the back strands break where the front ones cross. The Lorentz force is drawn as a three-dimensional helix winding along the field.

■ Verified physics scenes
Kepler's three laws and the orbit equation, Newton's second law, Hooke's law, simple harmonic motion with its frequency and period, travelling waves and wave speed, projectile motion and range, universal gravitation, Coulomb's law and Ohm's law each have their own animation. Motion whose speed varies over time, such as Kepler's equal-area law, is computed from the physics rather than swept at a constant rate.

When a formula has several variables, the values held fixed are written on screen, so it is clear which assumptions the drawn curve rests on.

■ Preview before you spend
You can preview a video before it is made. Credits are spent after you have seen it. The grid behind a diagram can be turned on or off.

■ Credits
New accounts start with 30 credits. Watching a rewarded ad to the end earns 5 credits, up to three times a day. Credit packs are available if you want more. Hard problems can be sent to a stronger solving model, which uses proportionally more credits.

If a result comes back unusable, the credits are returned.

■ The videos are yours
Finished videos are stored on your device. Save them to your gallery or share them to other apps. They are 1080x1920 vertical videos, ready to post as Shorts or Reels.

■ Who it is for
· Students stuck on homework who want the working, not just the answer
· Anyone who wants to study what a formula actually draws
· Anyone making short maths or physics videos to post

■ Languages
Korean and English are supported, and captions and narration are produced in the language you choose.

■ Privacy
Videos you create and your edits stay on your device and are never uploaded to our servers. You can export your data or delete your account from inside the app.
