PlainSite

Legal research with optional paid features powered by court and government data.

Overview

Features & Capabilities

PlainSite is a legal and financial research platform that gives everyone access to court records, government filings, and corporate profiles in an easy-to-understand manner, with no subscription required.

Search Millions of Court Records
Browse federal and state court dockets by case name, party, attorney, or judge. Follow active cases and with paid plans, receive push notifications when dockets are updated or new documents become available. PlainSite indexes millions of cases across the federal court system, giving you real-time visibility into litigation and law that would otherwise require expensive access through Westlaw or LexisNexis.

Entity & Attorney Profiles
Every company, individual, and law firm in the PlainSite database has a unified profile showing their complete litigation history, SEC disclosures, trademark activity, and patent assignments. Use Attorney Finder to research counsel by name, bar number, or jurisdiction.

SEC Filings & Market Data
Read full SEC filings, such as Form 10-Ks, 10-Qs, 8-Ks, proxy statements, and more, alongside insider trading records and stock history. Research any public company's legal and financial footprint in one place.

Document Requests
Request court documents from PACER and state courts directly through the app. PlainSite Pro subscribers can submit requests and track their status, with push notifications when documents are ready.

Live Filing Feed
On Mac, the PlainSite screen saver displays a live map of court filings as they happen across the country, updated in real time.

Who Uses PlainSite?
Attorneys, paralegals, investigative journalists, investors, AML compliance officers, and anyone who needs reliable legal research without the cost of traditional law databases. PlainSite is free to use and does not require a law firm account, a Westlaw subscription, or LexisNexis credentials.

PlainSite Pro
Subscribers unlock document requests, Chat (AI-assisted legal research), the Court Audio Converter, and a personalized Dashboard to follow entities, dockets, and tags.

Recycler
PlainSite Recycler is browser extension which supports Chrome, Firefox, and Safari. It helps you save money on legal records when they are already uploaded to PlainSite, so you never pay for something that is already free.

Download PlainSite and search the law openly, freely, and without a gatekeeper.
