The Pioneer

As one of India’s oldest continuously published newspapers — now in both English
and Hindi — The Pioneer stands apart in a crowded media landscape by prioritising

The Pioneer began as a tri-weekly in 1865 and became a daily in 1869. It rose to
prominence under editors such as Alfred Sinnett, and among its early contributors
were Rudyard Kipling and Winston Churchill (as a young war correspondent).
The paper relocated to Lucknow in 1933, came under the Thapar Group in 1990,
and was later acquired by journalist and Member of Parliament Dr. Chandan Mitra in
1998.
Under CMYK Printech, The Pioneer expanded nationally, launching Hindi editions
from 2010 onwards, and embracing a multi-platform presence that spans print,
digital, and multimedia.
