User Reviews

User reviews consistently praise FTP Server for being easy to use, ad-free, and reliable, with strong Wi‑Fi transfers and good FileZilla compatibility. The main recurring drawbacks are device compatibility issues on some Android versions (notably certain Xiaomi/Redmi models) and enforced directory restrictions that prevent selecting any folder. Overall, it’s a lightweight, free FTP server that works well for many users, but those on affected devices or who want unrestricted directory access may encounter problems.
Pros
  • Ad-free experience with no nagging screens
  • Easy to install and use with a simple interface
  • Very reliable and stable; works for years on a variety of devices
  • Excellent for FTP transfers over Wi‑Fi, especially with FileZilla
  • Free to use with no limits or ads
Cons
  • Compatibility issues on certain devices/Android versions (e.g., Xiaomi Redmi devices, Android 12)
  • Directory access is restricted; you cannot freely choose any folder and are forced to pick specific directories

Good options. BUT 1. if you switch to different ethernet router, it does not refresh and in fact just freezes, so I must go through the palava of getting android to close it and then go to start it again. I hope the creators take notice and fix it. 2. No facility for seeing what us going on during the transfers, such as messages passing.
