Pluvial: Rain Gauge Log

Pluvial keeps what you measure. It doesn't estimate anything.

Your rain gauge sits on a post in the yard, by the barn or out in the pasture. You read it in the morning, and the number ends up in a notebook, a spreadsheet or nowhere. With Pluvial it ends up here: type 0.45, tap Save and you're done. No figure is estimated or pulled from the internet: it's your gauge and your numbers.

A morning with Pluvial
1. Read the gauge.
2. Open Pluvial and tap Log rain. The date is already today, or yesterday if you read it the next morning.
3. Type the amount on the number keypad, in hundredths of an inch or tenths of a millimeter.
The tube on the first screen rises, and one line tells you how you're doing against this point last year.

The math it does for you, at no cost
- Totals for 7 days, 30 days, this month, the calendar year, your own rain year, the last 365 days, or any dates you pick.
- Daily bars with a running total, and a month-by-month table next to last year.
- A calendar with each day's rain. A trace shows as T.
- Rain days, and how long it's been: "12 days with no rain logged."
- Every rain gauge you own, each with its own name and history.
- Readings that cover several days, for when you were away. Two readings on the same day add up. Melted snow and hail are logged as water.
- A reminder at an hour you set, only on days you haven't logged yet, plus a summary on the 1st of every month.

Questions people ask
Does it need a connection? No. There's no account, and everything you log stays on your phone, not on a server of ours.
My rain year starts in October, or in July. Pick the month and every total and comparison follows it.
I have years of records in a spreadsheet. Import them as CSV. Pluvial figures out the separator, the decimal comma, the date order and the unit, shows a preview, and can undo the whole import.
What happens when I get a new phone? Export a CSV or save a backup file whenever you like. Both are included at no cost.
Any limits? None on gauges, readings or years. A single reading can go up to 2,000 mm (78.74 in), and there's no cap on the year.

Premium, if you want more
Premium adds four things, and none of what you log ever moves behind it: no ads; all your years with your own average; the rain season report, with dry spells, heavy-rain days, the record day and, where your climate has a rainy season, when the rains started and ended; and two rain gauges compared month by month. The yearly and monthly plans begin with a 7-day trial at no charge, and there's also a one-time payment that never renews. Cancel in Google Play during those 7 days and you won't be charged.

The free version has ads: a banner on the calendar, the totals and the gauge list, and now and then a full-screen ad after you add a new gauge. None on the screen where you log your rain.
