Overview

Features & Capabilities

dataDex is an unofficial, beautifully designed Pokédex that provides comprehensive data on all 1025 Pokémon across every main-series game. Use the Pokéball multi-button to quickly search, filter and sort Pokémon, moves, abilities, items and natures. Browse full Pokédex entries, Move/Ability/Item/Type/Nature Dex entries, and a Location Dex showing where Pokémon appear by game, method and level. The app includes multi-language support (UI: English, Italian, German, Spanish, French, Portuguese, Hebrew; data-only: Japanese, Chinese) and works offline for instant access without an internet connection.

Upgrade to PRO for the Team Builder to craft six-Pokémon teams with nicknames, levels, abilities, moves, EVs/IVs, held items and personal notes, plus automated team analysis including stats, type relations and coverage. Mark favorites and track catches with built-in checklists. dataDex is a fan-made, unofficial app and is not affiliated with Nintendo, GAME FREAK or The Pokémon Company.

User Reviews

Users praise dataDex for its depth, offline accessibility, and clean UI, making it a strong tool for planning teams. However, recurring complaints center on intrusive ads and paid features, data gaps for older generations, occasional accuracy issues, and visual bugs (sprites/shinies). The overall consensus: a feature-rich Pokédex with excellent usefulness when data is complete and bugs are minimal, but it's held back by monetization friction and data gaps across legacy content.
Pros
  • Comprehensive Pokémon data across moves, TMs, weaknesses, locations, gender differences, and version-specific notes.
  • Works offline, making it reliable without internet access.
  • Clean, intuitive UI that makes information easy to locate.
  • Valuable for planning teams and pre-building (with PRO features welcomed by some users).
  • Frequent updates keep data current for many games.
Cons
  • Intrusive ads and monetization friction, including pro-locks and paid dark mode.
  • Gaps and inaccuracies in older-gen data (Gen 1–3 locations, fossils) and occasional incorrect abilities/versions.
  • Shiny/sprite and visual issues after updates (sprites not loading or shinies not showing).
  • Team-builder usability issues (not intuitive, not updating movesets for some forms).
  • Search reliability and occasional bugs after updates.
Recent reviews
Swellow's SpAtk should be 75 from Gen7 onwards. 50 is prior to Gen7. Butterfree's SpAtk went from 80 to 90 after Gen5. Scolipede should have 90 Atk prior to Gen6. Dugtrio and Peliper are the only two I've found so far that has the correct adjusted stats between generations. I'm sure there are more, there are a lot of pokemon lol. but I hope this helps for future updates

I've tried many Pokedex apps and this is my favorite. Clean interface but has all the needed information. This is not the fault of the dev as it's an unintended/unexpected use case but some sections don't scale well on untraditional aspect ratio displays. I have an Ayn Thor that has a small basically square aspect ratio secondary screen and the name card and top bar, specifically on the moves tab, take up a lot of the screen.
