Clinical Guidelines for Operations (CGOs) provides deployed medical assets with guidance as to the best medical practice in the view of DMS subject matter experts.

However, it is not intended to be an all-compassing textbook of Military Medicine and Surgery; clinical judgement must be used at all times.

CGOs acts as a guide and aide-memoire for clinicians in the field encountering conditions they do not often see in their UK practice or the management of which is changed by the deployed environment.

CGOs also provides an audit framework against which treatment can be measured.
