Features & Capabilities

Zen Bento is a match-3 puzzle game set in a calm, premium Japanese sushi restaurant. The mood is minimal and zen: no cartoon style, no kawaii, no sparkles or flashy effects. The look is clean and refined, with soft cream and charcoal tones, light wood, and subtle sakura accents. The name and UI suggest a quiet, high-end dining space where the player “completes service” by making matches.

The player swaps adjacent tiles on an 8×8 grid to form lines of three or more of the same type (horizontal or vertical). Matches of four or five tiles give bonus points. When tiles are matched, they disappear at once, new tiles drop in immediately, and the score updates with no animations. Each move must leave at least two possible matches on the board; if not, the board is reshuffled until it does. Tile types are represented by simple food emojis: sushi, bento, shrimp, rice ball, chopsticks, avocado, green tea, and sakura.

Progression & structure** The game has 80 levels in a fixed order. Early levels focus on reaching a score target with a comfortable move limit. Mid levels add stricter move limits and higher score goals; some levels ask the player to collect a set number of a specific tile. Later levels mix high score targets, tight move limits, and objectives that encourage large matches (e.g. 5+ in a row). Levels are unlocked one by one; completed levels show a star rating (1–3) based on score and moves used.

Screens & flow** On first launch the user sees a short welcome screen, then the main home with: Play (current level), Level Select (full-screen grid of 80 levels with locked/unlocked and stars), Achievements, and Settings. The game screen shows level number, score, moves left, and the current objective above the 8×8 grid. Beating a level opens a “Service Complete” dialog with score, moves, stars, and buttons for Next Level or Level Select. Running out of moves shows an “Out of Moves” dialog with Retry and Level Select. Achievements (e.g. first match, finishing 20/50/80 levels, large matches, perfect three-star level) are stored locally. Settings include sound on/off, theme (Sakura Pink, Midnight Zen, Emerald Wasabi), and optional reset of progress.

Technical & design constraints** The app is built in Flutter with null safety, uses Riverpod for state and Hive for local storage (no SharedPreferences). Game logic is separated from UI: match detection, possible-move check, and reshuffle run after every move so the board always has at least two valid match options. There are no animations: no fades, scales, or motion on tiles or screens; all changes are instant. The background is a single static image of a minimal Japanese zen interior. The package name is fixed; the app is production-ready and runnable as-is.
